Interior Inspo

I have been very quiet this year... to be honest I lost a lot of my motivation to write about anything.

Also, I do have my excuses... It has been my last year at University until May which obviously inevitably took complete control of my life. After that it was the stress of finding a job (I wrote a piece on that its self) and then it was having a job and saving for buying a house - looking at houses and mortgage meetings and all that grown up stuff. Without trying to excuse it I just haven't really had the time. But I have found a new love for writing again, I just love the sound of the tapping on my keyboard haha is that sad or what?!

Anyway.. since I am moving out, I have been looking at interiors and ways to decorate. I want to keep everything quite muted and fresh looking.

Here are some inspiration I have found... All from Pinterest of course! Where else?!

LAST MINUTE CHRISTMAS SWEET CANAPE IDEA

As I was preparing for Christmas I was trying to find nice sweet treat ideas that were effective but still simple to make as I have so much more to do regarding the actual dinner let alone the night time buffet!!

I love these marshmallows. They are simple, cheap, effective and taste good (if you have a sweet tooth!)
You don't exactly need a recipe for these - or even a method haha as they are effectively just marshmallows dipped in chocolate. I just fancied taking photos as I was creating them!!
I have made them for two sets of parties now and everyone has come up to me to tell me how lovely they were and how I made them (not sure if that's a joke though... haha)
I added some Christmas themed decorations on them to get them all party-like.
I would buy a full bar of chocolate but only melt 4/5 squares at a time as it is surprising how much chocolate it makes once its melted!
Twist the marshmallows into the chocolate to get a good covering and then place them on your tray!
Stick the decorations on (if wanted) whilst the chocolate is still wet so it sticks well!

Once all done - place the trays in the fridge. Once dry, the trays/marshmallows can be stacked on top of each other to save space!

I got all my ingredients from Home Bargains. The trays - 79p each, the marshmallows - £1, the chocolate - £1 and the decorations -79p each!!

Serve these up along side your pudding platters or dot them round the room like canape trays!

DIY Kim Kardashian Cheap Contour Kit!

<a href="http://www.bloglovin.com/blog/13063761/?claim=dr63bjrkbhw">Follow my blog with Bloglovin</a>

When I first heard about Kimmy K's infamous contour routine I was desperate to try it out myself - wasnt everyone?
You can literally change the shape of your face (and i, for one, am very self conscious and see a LOT of flaws so this was fab!)
I read about it a lot and the word 'highlighter' constantly came up. So, about 5/6 months ago, I took a trip to boots and searched the shop for highlighters, affordable ones as I am a student!! My boots is very small so they only have a small selection of brands, condensed down to the main products - though every brand has the majority of their space taken up by ALL the shades of nail varnish in the world????

Anyway, I couldnt find anything!! So I asked someone and they didnt even know what highlighter was!!! EH?! have they been living under a rock?! I eventually found one from Seventeen - I was delighted, however got home, tried it out and it was as advertised but its a shimmer liquid rather than Kim K's creamy style! So i was a little disappointed and I kept using it for awhile then it made its way to the back of the reject drawer!! (makeup that i cant throw away as it isnt empty but is old/not exactly what I wanted)

I then purchased Sleek's Contour palette - first in just the contour colours in medium. Then after i finished that the light contour palette with the blush too! This is great - its a really nice colour and affordable (contour colours alone - £5.49, with blush £6.49 i think!) and it works wonders! the highlighter is a shimmer but isnt super glittery just catches the light, and the bronzer is just a matte brown which i am glad with as I didnt want to overload on the shimmeriness as it can look far too much!! The blush just adds a nice colour/glow to the apple of your cheeks too!

However, its still not giving me this extreme look as above!
So - I had a massive brainwave! this may be a simple solution to others haha!!
BUT I have thought, instead of shedding out alot of money cause it has the word 'contour' slapped across it.. why not make my own? Alot of the kits dont have a creamy consistency like above so I thought.. why not get a extremely light/cheap concealer stick and a extremely dark one.. making sure it is brown not orange!!
I picked both of mine up from MUA - superdrug for just a £1 each!
I apply this similar to Kim K's (but not as extreme as I dont want to be caked in makeup) before my foundation.. making sure it is more darker than I like as by the time youve blended and put your foundation on top its barely there! And then I use my Sleek contour kit just to give that extra bit of definition and i am done :D

A fab DIY contour kit for just £2!! Take that Kim K!

Friday Favourites

I want to do a new thing!! (yippeeee)
Every Friday I will do a big post/list of my favourites from that week, it could be recipes, quotes, memories, holidays, pictures, make up, advice, pets etc anything that I have loved that week :)

This is my first week of doing it (obviously) so here is my list;

My fave quote:

Fave birthday idea/treat:

Very Cute...A small bag of water balloons (available at most supermarkets and party supply stores) is almost all you need to make an easy and festive cake topper. Inflate the balloons and tie to wooden or plastic coffee stirrers.

Favourite crafty tip for my fellow sewers, to keep bobbins from unwinding:
Keep bobbins from unwinding! What a clever (and cheap) idea.

Favourite simple but so effective crafty idea for a childrens bedroom:
Love it!

Let me know what your Friday faves are!!! :)
