I have made my first ever wedding dress!!

My end of year final design was based on the brief 'Floral/Geometric'.

This was so difficult to cater for bridal but after hours of designing and changing ideas I finally came up with this. This brief also stated that it had to have embroidery on. I designed an A-Symmetric neckline with a front panel going across the bust and a simple flared skirt.
An attached cape beaded and embroidered in floral patterns and trimmed with tiny (tiny!!) beads that took me 5 hours to sew on :(
The dress is completely backless, allowing the embroidery to lay on the bare skin. The dress also has a small gather over the bum to add to detail.

The small tiny beads that were so sewn on around the edge, as well as 'crackle glass' beads sewn onto the cape. A close up of the embroidery, the photos don't do it justice as its a shiny metallic thread and glistening beads.

I am really happy with the over all result of this dress as I always seem to have a better image in my head of what it is going to look like, than what I can actually do! However this dressed turned out, pretty much exactly how I wanted it!! Either I have low standards now or I have dramatically improved haha!:D

Pencil Sketch.

Taken from Glamours July 2012 edition.
I didn't want to fill this in colour as I didn't want to take away the deatils of the drape in the fabric and her face. Nor did I want to end up adding too much colour and ruining it with big black eyes or clown lips.
I wanted to focus getting the angles of the bent arm right and the movement of the fabric. Also the face, which is a big weakness of mine when drawing!! I always will try and avoid it.
I know its very faint, it didn't look it on the photo I took, so you might want to tilt your screen back ever so slightly.

Tudor Rock Bridal Collection

A
B
C
D

F

This collection is based on the theme of mixing Classic Tudor with Heavy Rock. I found this weeks theme quite challenging and it took me all week to create 20 designs. As I am doing bridal it was hard to create elegant dresses with two of the most different topics.

A - This is one of my favourites. A massive tudor neck piece, attached to a very short rock inspired hemline. With heavy pleats and lots of netting underneath.
B - This is another of my favourites. A gold plated neck piece, attached to a very big, structured dress with a wide skirt, and a rocky thigh high split showing off studded thigh boots.
C - A very tudor dress, with a square neckline, wide sleeves, and red hems. A rocky hemline and red hems covered in studs.
D - A a-symmetrical dress with a very small jacket with connecting ruffled neck piece.
E - A fitted midi dress with square neckline, 3/4 sleeves, studded hems, and a neck ruffle used as a peplum.
F - A more simple dress, with a boned corset bodice and a neck ruffle as a peplum.
